BUILDING A SAFER BENGALURU, TOGETHER

an initiative of Bengaluru City Police

Assistant Commissioner of Police Ms. Nikitha, Police Inspector Mr. Preetha and Police Sub-Inspector Mr. Thamaiah from Bengaluru City Police, Jnanabharati Police Station visited National Public School, West to create an awareness of Safer City specially to women and children.

Ms. Nikitha spoke about:

  • KSP Safe Connect app fore front of which is women’s safety.
  • Safety Island: Means of reaching police to send SOS with 360° camera and public announcement speakers installed.
  • Neravu Mahila Kendra, a Nirbhaya scheme to support women and children.
  • Ola/ Uber QR code is available in all ola and Uber cabs in case the KSP Safe connect app in not installed in the mobile phones.

    • Missing person

  • Namma 112: ERSS that connects citizens to police, fire and ambulance
  • Parihar: an integration of NGO and city police to facilitate counsellors and safety management.

Mr. Preetam briefed us about:

  • How serious is the problem related to drugs and drug abuse
  • Some commonly used drugs
  • Reasons for drug addiction
  • Common routes of drug administration
  • Drug free Karnataka app to curb the use of drugs
  • Anti-Narcotic Committees at schools and colleges: to carry out anti-narcotic activity at educational institutions comprising of management, students and local police.
    • To create awareness through walkathon, marathons, social media campaign, seminars, debates and workshops.
  • Traffic management centres: to modernise program B-Trac, integrates traffic signals, surveillance and its key features and capabilities
  • Visiting museum that exhibits the achievement of TMC-Traffic Control Management sice its initiation
