The POCSO Act, or the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, is a law in India enacted in 2012 to protect children from sexual assault, sexual harassment, and pornography. It defines a child as anyone below the age of 18 and provides a framework for addressing these offenses, including punishment for perpetrators, compensation to victims, and establishing special courts for trials.

In essence, the POCSO Act is a comprehensive legal framework designed to protect children from sexual exploitation and ensure that they receive justice and support when they become victims of such crimes.

To create such an awareness in the school premises our school organised POCSO workshop to each and every individual present in the school. Following are the points discussed in the workshop:

  • Use of acceptable, polite and kind language
  • Not to hurt any student with words nor through actions
  • Not to touch any student without their consent
  • Not to embarrass the students
  • While helping the student physically
    • Seek the permission of the student if they need any help
    • If yes, how to hold the student
  • Penetrative sexual assault and punishment
  • Importance of reporting any kind of mishap directly to the Principal without discussing with any and being non-judgemental about the situation
